    "Edgefield Co, SC Wills 1787-1836" by James E. and Vivian Wooley gives
    the following information on the will of Jesse Hill: p. 132 I have not yet
    gone to the original]
    I, Jesse Hill, being at this time of sound disposing mind and
    memory.I will that my just debts and funeral charges be paid. I give to my
    beloved wife Elizabeth after my decease to have & to hold all the property
    where I now live during her natural life or widowhood. Also I give her a
    negro girl named Isable, I desire that in case my wife should die without
    heirs of my body that the land and Isable with her increase to revert bact
    to here after named legatees.
    I give unto my daughter Susannah Cosey a tract of land beginning
    at the road where it crosses the draw at the head of the branch where I now
    live and the lands of John Lyons esq. Also I give her a negro woman
    named Phebe & a boy named Sharper....I give unto my daughter Saley Garrett
    all that tract of land wheron Thomas Garret now lives bound by Stephen White
    and the land bought from Susannah Cosey...I give to my daughter Saley Jaur &
    the heirs of her body a negro girl named Taby and her increase.I give to my
    sons John & William the ballance of my land not already given to be divided
    as: John shall have the lower part according to a line marked out by Thomas
    Garrett and I will that my son william have the land lying on the north side
    of the branch wereon I now live to the line between William and my wife
    Elizabeth.I give unto my son John Hill a negro boy called Sam. I give to my
    son William Hill a negro boy called Mike. I give to my son Joel a negro boy
    called Phillip. I give to my dtr. Elizabeth during her life or widow a negro
    girl named Ann. I desire that my negro Patro be hired out until my youngest
    son is of age and then to be sold to benefit the estate. I also desire that
    my son Joel have a good english education paid out of the estate. I appoint
