Hi David,
I' communicated with you several years ago and have returned my
attention back to this Marshall line. I'm excited about the dna test
and seeing what connections we can make. Do you know of anyone else in
this line having taken the test? I could find nothing on the Marshall
dna site. Other than the lady from Mount Airy, do you have any proof of
Preston Marshall and Alice Handrake being the parents of Robert Marshall
Sr.? Doesn't your Marshall line connect with this line maternally?
The paper trail from my cousin to Robert Marshall Sr is strong. My line
is below. Hasseltyne Marie Marshall was my grandmother.

John Walter Marshall 1866-1940) married Cordelia Worrell (1867-1948).
Married April 25, 1889 in Star Va. I have a copy of the marriage license
and newspaper announcement and a photo of them. Cordelia Worrell was
the daughter of Jonathan Worrell (1833-1915) and Matilda Branscome
(1845-1920). I have their death certificates and family trees that go
back many generations.

| 4. | Robert MARSHALL, Sr. was born about 1781 in Maryland or England (son of Preston MARSHALL and Alice HENDRAKE); died about 1855 in Carroll County, Virginia. Notes:

It is unknown whether Robert was born in England or Maryland.
The family story is that Bobby came to the US from England. He was playing and pulled a chair out from under a woman. She died. He was indentured to a blacksmith in Maryland after the incident, arriving at the US in Philadelphia. In Maryland, he chose not to stay with the blacksmith for the seven-year indenture, but instead swam the Potomac River after four years and settled in Virginia. He was a blacksmith and a carpenter. Originally he went to Floyd County, Virginia, then Grayson/Carroll County.
After he came to the US, six more of Bobby?s brothers followed. Two of them settled in New York. We don?t know what happened to the others.
The old Marshall Homestead is at Laurel Fork, VA. (The post office is Hillsville, Virginia)
