!WILL of Abraham Vanhoy in loose files, Henry Co. MO - dated 24 May 1858,
    proved 15 Feb. 1859. (recorded in Record Book A, p. 160).

LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ABRAHAM VANHOY (recorded Record Book A, p.160)
In the name of God, Amen. I Abraham Vanhoy, of Henry County and state of
Missouri, while I am in sound mind and memory, I do hereby declare and publish this as my last will and testament. In the first place I design my body to the dust and my soul to God and my wish is that after my death my body shall be buried in decent Christianlike manner. My desire is this: I have but little property to dispose of or to will to my children, therefore pay any just debts that I have contracted in the state of Missouri, Henry County, out of my personal property. After my debts have been paid I will all my property both land and personal property to my beloved wife, Verlinda, during her natural life, and after her death then the estate that my Beloved wife had in her hands I will unto my Daughter, Pollina and her heirs, who has been a faithful child to take care of her father and mother. This is to her and her heirs forever.
I will unto my son, John M. Vanhoy, one dollar. One dollar to William
Walker. One dollar to son-in-law Harmon Miller, one dollar to son-in-law
Thomas Miller, one dollar to Ashael Hart, one dollar to Alfred Walker, one
dollar to James Henley, one dollar to Hamilton J. Vanhoy. Also to Hamilton J. Vanhoy all of shop tools, that is the gun smithing tools, one pair of plate molds, seven plates, plating jar and rollers. My blacksmith tools to be sold to pay my debts if any against me. It is my wish that there is to be no public sale of any of my propewrty except you think it best and if you do if there be any debts standing sell enough of the property to pay them. I nominate my son, John M. Vanhoy, as executor of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have subscribed my name, my wishes and desires this 24 day of May 1858, A.D. Declared and Published,
    A. Vanhoy
By Abraham Vanhoy as his last will in presence of:
    J. B. Vanhoy
    Alfred Walker

Abraham Vanhoy b. 1813 Stokes County, NC d. Dec 15, 1846 NC. married Dec 10, 1839 to Nancy Sullivan. His parents James Hamilton Vanhoy// Frances ? b. Dec 1790 he b. Aug 1775

Abraham Vanhoy b. Jan 6, 1783 to John Vanhoy and Jemima (Marshall?) Stokes County, NC. d. Feb 1859 Henry County, Missouri married Dec 1805 to Verlinda Marshall in Stokes County, NC they came through Martin County around 1846 by Courthouse records. Eventually Settled in Henry Co., Missouri. They had 11 Children none named Abraham.

Hamilton Jones Vanhoy b. Feb 25, 1819 Stokes County, NC is the 6th child and 3rd son of Abraham Vanhoy and Verlinda Marshall.

Information on family of James Hamilton Vanhoy obtained from Opal Tice, and James Harold Vanhoy and Connie Floyd.

Information on Abraham Vanhoy and Verlinda Marshall family obtained and verified by Verla Hepburn, W.L. Hubka, and Jessie Walsh

All information was checked through Court Documents, Cemetery Registries, marriage documents.

Other information obtained from the Grandchildren of Edward Franklin Vanhoy and Grandchildren of William Ashley Vanhoy, all are descendants of Clayton Jonathan Vanhoy and Elizabeth Kirk.

QUESTIONS CONCERNING Issac Vanhoy b. Abt 1810 ca He was actually born 1806 one of 4 children born to Edward Vanhoy and Ruth ?? Information obtained by W.L. Hubka and Loraine Watt from US> Census of Stokes and Forsyth counties, NC. from 1800-1850.

In the first 4 generations of Vanhoys there are as many as 6 Abrahams, 2-3 John Marshall Vanhoys, William Vanhoys--Numerous the same with John, Charles, and Clayton Vanhoys. The Vanhoy men had a way of naming their male heirs after themselves, their parents, grandparents, uncles. The Repetitive use of the same name down through the generations is unbelievable. By the way the Name Clayton became popular after Abraham/Abram Vanhoy b. NY 1690 married Susannah Clayton and the name Susanna became popular also right up to present day.

Sherry, Your Abraham was born 1813 to James Hamilton Vanhoy & Frances ?? and he died in NC in 1846. The Abraham Vanhoy that died in Henry County, Missouri was the uncle of your Abraham and the brother to our ggg grandfather James Hamilton Vanhoy

One final clarification, the mention of who married Dr. William Walker. That is Elizabeth B. Vanhoy b. Nov 1809 to Abraham Vanhoy and Verlinda Marshall.

Does this help everyone? If not let me know and I'll see what I can do.

    Sincerely:
    Paul D. VanHoy
