Notes |
- Daniel W. Allen was the minister of the Christian Church. The 1860 Morgan Co. census lists this family as #223 with seven children living at home. But, according with the 1870 morgan Co. census, they have seven children living at home, but one son, William B. was married and he and his wife Nancy was still living with Daniel W. Allen. Information provided by Opal Harper, 8271 Andria Ct., West Chester, OH. 45069 and Joyce Perreault, Rt 1 Box 49, Agra, OK 74824.
A note from Alkie Collingsworth: Daniel Webster "Dan" Allen was a county judge of Magoffin county at one time. When he left office, the county was in debt fifty cents. Dan reached in his pocket, pulled out fifty cents and paid the county debt out of his own pocket. He was a storekeeper in White Oak Creek where he owned considerable acreage. His great great granson, Grover Allen now owns the old homeplace. All but one of Dan Allens eleven children were born before the civil war.
Buried in the Allen Cemetary, lower White Oak as was his wife and others of that family.
Corbet Cochran Sr. states that Daniel Webster Allen died in 1909.
