      Mr. Jerry Wayne Humphries, 67 of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County on September 22, 1944 to the late Crawford Lee and Lillie Tickle Humphries. He retired from the City of Mt. Airy after twenty five years of service, and later retired from Hardy Custom Golf Center. Mr. Humphries was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Gail Wray Humphries of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Mary Swift, Mike Swift all of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren, Brandon Swift, Tiffiane Swift and Amanda Hawks all of Mt. Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Clorene and Jack Bass of Mt. Airy; two brothers and sister-in-law, Gilbert Humphries of Mt. Airy, Luther and Shirley Humphries of Pilot Mountain; a special nephew, Larry Taylor of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Shore. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Johnson, Rev. Jeff Cassell and Mr. Burley Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suit 200, Mt.
