The James A. Huston Award for Excellence in Scholarship, established in 1979, is named in honor of James A. Huston, former dean of the College. It is given annually to one or more members of the teaching faculty of the College who has/have made noteworthy scholarly contributions to his/her field of endeavor. Any full-time member of the Lynchburg College faculty who has not received the award within the last 5 years is eligible. The award is presented at the Trustees Banquet in May.

It involves a romance between a young American infantry captain and a Swiss schoolteacher who is working in the headquarters of Patton's Third Army, first in Nancy, France, and later in Luxembourg City. German agents infiltrate the American lines and create considerable havoc. In the final phases of the Third Army's counterattack, the Captain develops imaginative tactics to convert a rifle battalion into a machine-gun battalion for devastating firepower across snow-covered fields and through the frosty forests and villages of the Ardennes.

      Subject: Re: Family Chart

Dear David, the chart arrived two days ago, but, alas, I have not been able to study it. Unfortunately, I have had to have an infected molar extracted and have been under the weather. I should be better in a few days. I'm also having trouble with my lumbar nerve and may have to return to surgery. Not to worry----I will be fine!

Wow! you must be a computer genius!!!!! I am really impressed. Brains sure run in the Marshall family, don't they!

When it arrived, I took just a quick peek--not to correct or anything---just noticed that my husband should be James AlvinHuston (not Albin).

When I can, I will look the chart over for you. You sure have put in a lot of work. I will send you an e-mail with additions/omissions/correctios as soon as I can.

      Fondly,

      Cousin Anne
