Joe Jones gave me your e-mail and other info and I've been meaning to contact you. I'm hoping you might have some info on my grandmother, Ella May Griffith Marshall. Can't seem to find anything about her.
Here's the info update on my part of the family.

Dad's name was Melvin Earl, not Earl Melvin. My name is Cheryl Dale, not Sissie. Sis is a family nickname. As I told Joe, Sis is family, Dale is friends and my husband's family and Cheryl is police, lawyers and people wanting money. Ha
I have 2 children, Jason Christopher Blanford and Matthew Neil Blanford. Oh, my husbands' name is Joseph Neil Blanford.

My brother's name is Ronald Earl Marshall and he has 2 children, Liz and Sara. He was married to Charlotte Yates Marshall but they divorced years ago. I'm also sending you Cindy Anderson's e-mail address. She's George Marshall's daughter. I don't think all the info is correct on George because he was married twice. Her address is cindy2@cbtri.com .

Thanks for doing all the family stuff. We moved around like gypsies and I really never got to know Dad's side of the family. I've been on your web site and it's really interesting.

So glad to hear from you so soon. We believe that you possibly got hold of a copy of MARSHALL'S OF HOUSE AND BARN MOUNTAIN by Della Marshall Jones. There is quite a bit of incorrect information and confusing data in this book.

Following are personal memories that Mim gave to Eleanor Hayes Myrick during
the summer of 1972.

When Nina was 2, her mother died. She went to live with Grandmother Marshall.

The Journal of Surry County Genealogical Association, Volume 45, Book2, Summer 2025, Page27 - This source gives her death as February 15, 1896 (In the 12th year of her age) It is from an article in The Mount Airy News, February 27, 1896. I believe it to be accurate. The full article is below. (DWM - 6/3/2025)

In Memory of Nina M. Harrell
Died, of pneumonia, in Pilot Mountain, Surry county, N. C. on Feb. 15th, 1896, in the 12th year of her age, Nina M. Harrell, daughter of Andrew and Dora Harrell. The deceased was left a motherless child, and being thus, was reared by her grandmother, Christena Marshall, who was fond of the child and became more and more attached to her as she grew older. She was kind and affectionate and was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. While the bereaved grandmother and a large circle of relatives and friends mourn their loss it is with the comforting assurance that she has entered into eternal rest, having made a profession of faith in our blessed redeemer in the fall of 1895. She was a birth-wright member of the society of Friends and lived a consistent Christian until her death.

The funeral service was conducted by T. Wesley Wooten at the Friends Church on Sunday, the 16I inst., at 3 o'clock, p. m., where a large concourse of relatives and friends met to pay the last tribute of respect to a loved sister and friend. She was interred near the church to await the final coming of our dear Master.
We pass a few swift fleeting years,
And all that now in bodies live,
Shall quit, like Nina, the vale of tears,
Our righteous sentence to receive.
